The late Father Meletioss Sakulidis Library located in Sismanoglio Megaro, Consulate General of Greece in Istanbul, is a special research library that aims to support studies on the history of the Greek nation living in the Ottoman Empire and the Greek community of Istanbul. (research library)
The existing meeting room located in the Şişmanoğlu building on Istiklal Street is separated by glass partitions, a large wooden library and two classrooms are designed in accordance with the structure of the historical building. The books exhibited are the last Greek works from the 19th century and the air conditioning system is arranged according to these principles.
Wooden material was used in the design concept based on its harmony with the old texture. In order to match the old decoration of the building, aluminum joinery was painted in wood color, and the details added to the existing wooden paneling were added to ensure that the newly functionalized space was in harmony with the old texture. An old desk brought from the church was restored for the new use of the library. The renovated space is 200 m2, turnkey renovation period is 2 months
